Garrow Kedigian's Montreal townhouse

I stumbled upon the Montreal townhouse of New York interior designer Garrow Kedigian and had to share because it is all kinds of traditional fabulousness. He is a master at making classic look chic, and his colours selections are outstanding. I particularly love the colours in the dining room - that wall colour (Benjamin Moore's Caribbean Teal) is to die for. Photos by Paul Raeside for __house Beautiful.

Earthy neutrals

Tactile fabrics merge with earthy neutrals. Ancient blends with modern. Rough co-exists with luxurious. Where every piece is completely unique. A Chicago row __house designed by Michael Del Piero.

In an attempt to elaborate our research started with the trends in Living room article now we invite you to explore the fascinating word of modern coffee tables design. Turns out there is such a wide variety of models, materials, and trends on the market these days that was very difficult to pick the most worthy for our selection of coffee tables ideas for season 2018 / 2019.

The wide variety starts with the materials palette selection – glass, metal, marble constructs are quite hot these days and is difficult to explore their rich variety in just a few pictures. But our team in InteriorZine is aiming to select for you the ones that demonstrate imminent style and are easy to integrate into contemporary interior compositions for your home.

As you know from our previous articles, there is a very strong vintage and retro vibe in the design of modern furnishing. This we explored as a positive sign in Design Trends to Watch for in 2017 and discover magnificent examples from the 50-60’s which fit perfectly in our modern word. Vintage references and retro hints from the 60-70’s can be discovered when it comes to colors, materials, shapes and textures. Bold orange, yellow, blue, metal bronze and copper, strong graphic expressions and contrasting textures and shapes can be observed on the design fashion scene.

And how does this retro wave reflects upon small details of the furniture design? Well, even simple, daily objects like the modern coffee tables become fascinatingly interesting and very artistic. Let us show you. We start with intriguing materials selection.

Glass Coffee Tables

It may be fragile and not very easy to maintain, but the Black & Blue by Evangelos Vasileiou makes the transparent glass coffee table into very diverting and functional experience. Simple and clear lined the ‘mix & match’ composition of this fashionable object can be used in a variety of functional ways: as a low table with a range of levels for storage of magazines, remote controls, or as a low shelving: when placed against a wall. It has an airy presence and contemporary expression – a steel structure supports shelves in the blue-tinted clear glass, composing a light and joyous combination of materials and colors – and functional bonus, it makes it suitable for a variety of modern decor compositions.

These hexagonal creations of German designer Sebastian Scherer reminds us of exquisite representation of the honeycomb ornaments – only decided in transparent shades of blue, green, gray and bronze colored glass – a contemporary solution for a timeless shape. They can be arranged and fit like puzzle pieces or used singularly. Transparent and light they can bring playful ease to any home.

Hamburg-based Studio Marfa tells a philosophical story with the presentation of this new piece – the Lunar table. A story of new beginnings in a far away world – the childlike fantasies about infinite space and the incredible expectations in what may be hidden there. Concentric circles of gradually changing hues of colored glass laid upon shuttle- like a base of black metal.

The clean, floating, silhouette of this contemporary creation of Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance corresponds nicely with the spiritual meaning of its name – Aoyama, the Blue Mountain, a district of Tokyo where the Zen culture and modern life meet. The tinted blue glass and the minimalist expression of the round coffee table possess certain serenity of design.

Another material allowing creative games of the imagination in the word of modern design:

Metal Coffee Tables

Antonino Sciortino had created an airy contemporary collection of steel tables that offers a great variety of sizes, shapes (round, square and rectangular) and colors (sky blue, green, ivory, mud, plum, chocolate and black), which makes it suitable for many different decor compositions. The signature, airy and fragile-looking base of the table contrast with the solidity of the construction materials creating dynamic tension.

This piece of art from the Canadian studio UUfie is one our favorite selections for modern coffee tables – it embeds liquid metals into the growth lines of wood creating in this way a unique set of textured tables. Made in different sizes and colors each of the tables possesses a central section made of wood that smoothly tapers out into a metal edge, which on its part “leaks” into graceful legs.

The table set by Andreas Kowalewski combines dark ash steel and copper-plated steel that composes two elegant, seemingly sculpted airy coffee tables. Their contemporary shape and light expression sit very well on modern interior. And don’t forget the trendy brass color always brings certain glamor into the design arrangement.

The simplicity and the clear expression of this project by Roberto Lazzeroni, Mr. Zheng coffee tables is inspired from the bamboo effect from the Far East. The thin framework off the base represents a lattice made from elegant steel rods that support a lacquered-wood top in a great variety of mat colors.

The Clyde double-topped low table harmoniously brings together no less than three materials in an entirely contemporary fashion. Entwining brass-plated steel, marble-effect ceramics and smoked glass the table offers finesse, style, and charm for any modern living room arrangement.

The floating structure of the Allegorie low table by Marie-Christine Dorner is designed as an architectural composition. The brass pillars airily connect the satin bronze ”floor” and black ”ceiling”. In between, functional storage space is open and invites the creativity of the owner.

Coffee Table Sets

Here we will show you a unique set of tables which are almost a piece of art themselves. Three designers create a series of small objects that can be called coffee tables but in reality are a delight for the eye and playful twist for the decor. Charlotte Perriand, Jaime Hayon, and Luca Nichetto composed a bold combinations of colors, materials and shapes for your interior design.

Triangularly shaped colorful tops with stylishly rounded corners lie upon black metal structures and can create multiple design combinations thanks to the difference in shapes, sizes, and colors – a dynamic composition that brings the artistic and contemporary vibe to any home. Petalo tables were created in 1951 for the university rooms in the city of Antony near Paris but were never put into production. Now they reappear at the fashion design scene and bring playful spirit into the interior decoration game.

The Torei tables by Luca Nichetto is an eclectic mixture of shapes (round, square, triangular), colors, sizes and materials (from natural ash, dyed black or red, to three types of marble) this set of coffee tables can create dynamic architectural combinations that bring fresh, playful spirit to any modern premise.

Wooden Coffee Tables

This piece of art by the Italian brand Riva 1920’s – Earth Table, carries deep conceptual meaning in its design. The top contains pieces of Kauri wood, which is sourced from ancient trees preserved in New Zealand swamps and is sculpturally suspended in clear resin resembling a world map. The bent iron base, on its merit, symbolizes the collapsed Twin Towers wreckage. It is inspired and beautiful piece for your home.

This is unusual materials combination that presents great craftsmanship and ingenious inspiration. British designer Bethan Gray created her latest collection of handmade furniture using vibrantly stained wood and brass marquetry that creates wind waves throughout the top. The clear expression of its shape inspires the name – the Deck table, inviting and rich with a natural look and elegant presence.

Terrazzo Coffee Tables

Terrazzo is originally composed of scraps of marble, and it has been used for centuries as a construction and finishes material in buildings – most commonly flooring and cladding. Thanks to its durability the Terrazzo table is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Such a table it’s an excellent addition to __home design as well as for restaurants, gardens and public spaces. Here the tabletop is made of electro-galvanized steel coated with a powder coat for outdoor use. The strict and functional top is broken off by a colorful and playful base in Terrazzo. Which gives the table fashionable and artistic appearance. Interesting fact for the terrazzo as a material is that it possesses the qualities of concrete, but unlike concrete, the material has an expressive and rich surface that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Developing and upgrading the Terrazzo trend the furniture company Another Brand created a set of speckled pedestal tables – Primo Terrazzo Tavolini tables.
